The SecondServes Mission

Tennis is a global sport enjoyed by people around the world, but lofty prices for racquets, courts, strings and other equipment make the game inaccessible for many families. SecondServes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping disadvantaged kids discover and fall in love with the game of tennis.

Through sports, young people are taught many important skills and principles that will guide them through the rest of their lives. In New York, we live in the shadow of the most important tennis tournament on earth, yet many city kids have never had the chance to pick up a racquet. At SecondServes, we strive to help spread the love of tennis to these players and inspire them to pursue this beautiful game. Through our campaigns, we aim to make tennis more available and relieve some of the financial barriers of the sport. We look forward to serving our community one game at a time!

Kyle Vukhac, CEO and Founder.

Kyle Vukhac was born and raised in New York and practically grew up with a tennis racquet in his hand. As a first-generation American, he often heard stories of the “American dream” from his parents who arrived in America with nothing but the clothes on their back. They were able to work hard and build an amazing life for their family and so Kyle wants to make sure that he gives back to those that don’t have the same opportunities he was given.

Kyle was inspired to start SecondServes after noticing the poor condition of many of the courts around New York City. Even though many of the tennis courts were without nets or had cracked surfaces he was surprised to see people playing the game they loved with smiles on their faces. SecondServes hopes to put smiles on even more tennis players’ faces by welcoming them into the game with open arms and giving them the equipment they need to keep coming back to the court. Kyle hopes to leave elitist tennis traditions in the past by showing people from all backgrounds that they are valued members of the tennis community.

In his free time, he loves to play with his dog Mochi and enjoys a good bowl of Pho from his mother. If you’d like to get to know Kyle better, he’d love to hit with you at any of the public courts around New York City.
